American inventor Edison invented the electric lamp, while Germany ARRI manufactured the world’s most powerful film and television metal halide lamps. However, as ARRI’s film and television metal halide lamps marched towards China, SUNNYXIAO integrated three elements of lamps, engineering, and high-speed train into one to collide out a spark!

The history of brand development has been introduced earlier. Now, some friends are asking for more details about SUNNYXIAO's transformation from engineering to product in the background platform. After careful sorting, the editor finds some stories between SUNNYXIAO and ARRI in the early stage. The cooperation with ARRI several times is the biggest opportunity for SUNNYXIAO to transform from engineering to film and television. 01 First Meeting

In 2018, the second anniversary of its establishment, SUNNYXIAO was mainly engaged in engineering consulting, and then awarded the Project of Light System for Crash Safety Laboratory.

This project was for impact test analysis service, and the test process involved high-speed photography, while the lamps was used for better lighting, so as to meet regional brightness, color temperature and safety performance.

After understanding Party A's requirements, SUNNYXIAO conducted the technical evaluation upon many investigations, and finally decided to purchase metal halide lamp products from ARRI, and then went to the Germany ARRI factory for pre-delivery inspection and acceptance of products.

In the engineering field, probably few people know ARRI, but in the film and television field, it can be said that all people know ARRI, a company with a history of centuries founded in 1917.

As the world's leading camera and lighting system designer and manufacturer, ARRI worked for lighting lamp development since 1952, with award-winning M series products. Its MAX technology brings the highest light output as the lamp holder gets rid of lens and can be used for focal length adjustment and the downlight is combined with the advantages of Fresnel lamp. It appears in filming sites with a need of high-power and high-quality lamps around the world.

In view of the about 10m internal vertical height of the test bed plant and the requirement for high-frame-rate shooting in a high-speed train collision, it is certainly that ARRI M series is the best choice for its characteristics such as high illumination, uniformity, no RF interference, and stability.


However, product procurement is only the first step. The ways to use the product, to install it on the lamp bracket of plant and to meet test conditions through the linkage between the system control lamp and the mobile lamp bracket system are really crucial issues.As a general coordinator and system integrator of the project, SUNNYXIAO inevitably needs to communicate with ARRI’s technicians for many times in the process of solving crucial problems.

Upon continuous communication, feedback and improvement, SUNNYXIAO has a better understanding of ARRI, and become more and more familiar with characteristics and operation of M series products.


For example, in the design of mechanical devices such as lamp bracket and track, there have been specific requirements for strength, rigidity and service life of lamp bracket and track in view of the weight of lamp itself, and the illuminating angle and height adjustment of lamp bracket need to be designed based on irradiation range of a single lamp, while the power line interface of lamp should be reserved in advance.

For system control, the led lights for cinematography need to be selected preliminarily and separately, and the illumination brightness data (including adjustment of light intensity multiplication Boost mode) would be acquired in real time, while the total operation time and switching times of bulbs would also be recorded.


The whole project implementation process is similar to an integration process, but the “integration” here is different from the modularization or “bringism” integration understood by general public, since it has no reference and are non-duplicated.

Knowing both operation and principle, SUNNYXIAO upgraded the integration at hardware level to the one at system level, put the scientific and technological connotation into the lighting products, and finally realized the scenario and intelligent self-adaptation control of the lighting system of high-speed collision test bed during integration.


03.Not talk about subversion

 

There is permanent product and changeable application scenarios. Probably ARRI has never thought that film and television metal halide lamps can be applied in engineering in such way before.


It is just because of an accidental project cooperation that the story between SUNNYXIAO and ARRI begins, but this is only the first formal mutual understanding process for both parties, and in the next 4 years, there have been more stories between SUNNYXIAO and ARRI...
Even at the time node of 2022, when looking back on the decision to purchase metal halide lamps from ARRI in 2018, SUNNYXIAO people have never thought that ARRI would certainly become an unavoidable keyword in brand development story of SUNNYXIAO.

Even at the time node of 2022, when looking back on the decision to purchase metal halide lamps from ARRI in 2018, SUNNYXIAO people have never thought that ARRI would certainly become an unavoidable keyword in brand development story of SUNNYXIAO.


In strict sense, ARRI motivates SUNNYXIAO to transform from engineering consulting to product research and development, while SUNNYXIAO is also full of respect for ARRI, an enterprise of hundred years.
